HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-45 l Ii RESOLUTION NO. 02-45 � II A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE TOWN OF TAOS APPROVING THE INTERCONNECTION AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE TOWN OF TAOS AND THE EL VALLE DE LOS RANCHOS WATER AND SANITATION DISTRICT; AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE STAFF TO PROVIDE NOTICE TO THE EL PRA.DO WATER AND SANITATION DISTRICT OF PROPOSED CHANGES TO ITS SEWER RATES. Whereas, The Town of Taos and the El Valle de los Ranchos Water and Sanitation District have negotiated in good faith, and have agreed on a Interconnection Agreement to provide sewer services to the residents within the boundaries of the District; and Whereas, The Town of Taos and the El Valle de los Ranchos Water and Sanitation District have agreed that the sewer rates to be charged to the residents of the District shall be the same rates that are currently charged residents of the Town of Taos for sewer services; and Whereas, The Town Council desires that the residents of the Town of Taos and the two Water and Sanitation Districts should be charged the same sewer charges of$4.53 per 1000 gallons in the interest of fair and equitable charges for all residents; and Whereas, The Town Council is required to provide notice to the El Prado Water and Sanitation • District of its intent to establish new sewer rates not less than 60 days prior to its enactment. Now, therefore be it resolved, by the Town Council, the governing body of the Town of Taos that: 1. The Interconnection Agreement with the El Valle Water and Sanitation District is hereby approved. 2. The staff will prepare and submit a letter to the El Prado Water and Sanitation District advising them of the proposed changes to the sewer rates, and the intent of the Council to implement the new rates on discharges from the District.
