HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-26 r RESOLUTION 06-26 A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF TAOS AUTHORIZING ONE TIME SALARY ADJUSTMENT FOR ITS UNIFORMED POLICE OFFICERS AND AUTHORIZING PAY INCENTIVES FOR ACHIEVING PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS. WHEREAS, The Town Council approve a 3% pay retention incentive for sergeants and police officers,and WHEREAS, Prevailing salary rates for uniformed police officers personnel has changed dramatically throughout the State since the completion of the pay and classification plan. As a result of those changes in prevailing salary rates, the Town has experienced a loss of highly trained and experienced police officers; WHEREAS, The Town Council desires to implement a 3% pay retention incentive to better reflect prevailing salary rates for uniformed police officers of the Town of Taos. WHEREAS, The Town Council recognizes the important of revaluating the pay scale for uniformed police officers,due to the demand of experienced police officers. WHEREAS, The Town Council desires to implement pay incentive for achieving professional certifications after July 1,2006. NOW,THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Town Council of the Town of Taos, Taos,New Mexico,that: 1. It is in the interest of the public health, safety and welfare of our community,that the Town of Taos implement a 3%pay retention incentive. 2. It is in the interest of the public health, safety and welfare of our community that the Town of Taos implement a pay incentive for the Police Officers achieving professional certifications related to their jobs. 3. That the Town Manager is authorized to implement these two changes effective accordingly the first change complete pay period following the adoption of this resolution. The second change effective July 1,2006. ® RESOLUTION 06-26 Page 2 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,That the Town Council approved a salary adjustment for its uniformed police officers personnel to be effective the first complete pay period following the adoption of this resolution. The salary increases are essential for recruitment and retention purposes. PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE TOWN OF TAOS COUNCIL AT THE REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING OF April 18,2006.
