17 1. CALL TO ORDER: The Special Meeting of the Taos Town Council was called to
18 order by the Honorable Mayor Bobby F.Duran at 9:15 a.m.

20 2. ROLL CALL: Ms. Renee Lucero, Interim Town Clerk, called roll and a quorum
21 was present.

23 Those present were Mayor Bobby F. Duran, Council Members Eugene Sanchez,
24 Erlinda S. Gonzales and Meliton Struck.

26 3. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Councilmember Struck led the audience in the
27 pledge of allegiance.

29 4. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Councilmember Meliton Struck made a motion to
30 approve the Agenda as presented. Councilmember Erlinda S. Gonzales seconded
31 the motion. The motion carried unanimously.

33 5. JOINT MATTERS FOR DISCUSSION
34 Project Update of NM 585 (Paseo del Canon East) presented Hewitt-Zollars and
35 the New Mexico Department of Transportation to the Mayor and Council.

37 The presentation included a video by Bohannan Huston on roundabouts that are
38 projected to be construction on NM 585. Brian Greer, Youth & Family Director,
39 expressed concerns on the congestion in the area of the Youth and Family Center and
40 stated that he would like to see a round-about constructed during the first phase of the
41 project.

43 Phil Gallegos, NMDOT, stated that based on Mr. Greer's concerns a roundabout
44 may be constructed right away.

• 1 Concerns about the traffic congestion at Taos Middle School were discussed. Phil
2 Gallegos explained that roundabouts at Gusdorf and signage is expected to alleviate
3 the congestion in that area.

5 Preliminary design is expected to be complete by March 15 with a final design
6 expected by August 31. Construction will begin in Spring of 2007 and final
7 completion is expected in the Fall of 2007.

9 6. ADJOURNMENT: A motion was made by Councilmember Erlinda S. Gonzales
10 and seconded by Councilmember Meliton Struck to adjourn the meeting. The
11 motion carried unanimously and the meeting adjourned at 11:20 a.m.
