AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A CIVIL DEFENSE ORGANIZATION FOR THE
TOWN

SECTION 1 . The purpose of this, Ordinance is to create a Civil
Defence Orunnization for the = of _Taos _ to be
prepared for , and to function in the event of_ , emergencies
endnnger. inr the lives and property of the people of stv:h city.
The duty of -,uch Civil Delfens,� Organization shall bo to plan
for protection of the lives and health of the citi zer ; of
Taos and of property and property rights' , both
private and public , and all funr_tionn necessary and incident
thereto.
SECTION 2 . There is hereby est.aTbOOlished under the executive
branch of the clovernment of the XX$It of Taos a
Department of Civil Defense , which shall consist of:
(a) A Director. of Civil Defense who shall be appointed

executive and as specified in his oath of office . The Director
of Civil Defense shall act as the Chief Executive Assistant to
the Mayor in the execution or these cluties or as the Mayor shall
direct .
SECTION 6 . For the preservation of the public peace , health,
and safety , an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this
ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately from and
after its Passage , Approval, and Publication .
