547 TOWN OF THOS ORDINANCES YEAR: I ( � �O NUMBER,,, } ORDINANCE NO. Y� AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE USE OF PARKING METERS AND REGULATING THE PARKING OF VEHICLES IN CERTAIN DESIGNATED AREAS WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE TOWN OF TAOS, NEW MEXICO; i REPEALING ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING PENALTIES. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE TOWN OF TAOS# NEW MEXICO, as follows : Section 1. That parking of vehicles shall be regulated 3 by the parking meters installed in those areas lying within the limits of the Town of Ta;.xf:. wherein said meters are installed ,, and in the manner hereinafter provided. Section 2. Parking shall be allowed at the rate of either one cent (1C) for twelve (12) minutes or one cent (10) for six (6) minutes, depending upon the type of meter in existence at , y the particular place in the public streets of Taos. Section 3. It shall be unlawful for any person to park a vehicle at any meter without paying the rate prescribed in Section 2 above. Section 4. It shall be unlawful for any person to park a vehicle at a meter anywhere except within the area marked and pertaining to that meter . Section 5. It shall be unlawful for any person to park a vehicle behind a vehicle which is parked diago• ally at any meter location. Section 6 . It shall be :Anlawful for any person to park a vehicle alongside any vehicle parked horizontally in any meter location. Section 7 . Any person convicted of the violation of i this Ordinance, or any portion thereof, is subject to a fine i or fines as follows : 3 (a) For failure to pay the parking rate as above ordained, a fine of fifty cents (50�) for each violation shall be imposed. (b) For failure to park a vehicle entirely within the designated area pertaining to the meter at which the vehicle is parked, a fine of One Dollar ($1.00) shall be imposed for such ' violation. (c) For parking a vehicle behind any vehicle which i is parked diagonally at any meter location or for parking alongside any vehicle parked I st horizontally at any meter location, a fine of Two Dollars ($2.00) shall be imposed for I each violation. i ' Section 8. Any person charged with the violation of f f this Ordinance may, within five days, from the date of said i< charge pay to the Clerk of the Town of Taos the amount of the , ,f fine above prescribed for the violation charged. i Section 9. Any person charged with the violation of f aj this Ordinance is entitled to and may have a hearing before the Municipal Magistrate of the Town of Taos, and at said hearing may present evidence and be heard on the issue con- cerning the violation charged. i Section 10. The Clerk of the Town of Taos shall petition : .t the Police Magistrate for a bench warrant for the arrest of i any person who fails to pay the above prescribed fine for the ,j ; violation charged, or, who, within five days from the date of said charge fails to request a hearing and fails to appear i at the time and day set for said hearing. The Magistrate shall { issue the bench warrant and set the matter for hearing as is { the practice of other similar cases in said Court. J Section 11.
