Mi earthfill floodvater retarding :structure having, an ungated floodwater outlet and a gated sediment pool drain. The structure has a sediment storage capacity of 68 acre feet and a floodwator detention atorage capacity of 166 acre feet detaining the runoff from a 500-year-frequency storra. This structure is located in Taos County and lies within the Taos Pueblo Indian Grant and in projected to be within the northwest quarter, section 16, T25M, ROE, HMPM, approximately one mile west of Taos, Taos County, New Mexico. The parties hereto agree as follows to the operation of the works of improvement: A. The Service will provide such technical services as are available for assistance In the proper operation of the works of improvement. B. The Town of Taos will: Be responsible for operation of the works of improvement aftaultaneously with acceptance of the works of iraprove- nent from the contractor. 2. OparAte the gate installed in the sediment pool drain in tile following manner: The gate will re-main closed except that after any storm the gate will be opened when the water in the reservoir has receded to the level of elevation 7036 (the top of the inlet structure being not elevation 7035-7) or Veen the flow from the uncontrolled area in the Las Cruces Arroyo has receded sufficiently to allow release fron the structure. Special Meeting November 20th, 1968 Town of Taos Colincilroom 1 On the 20th day of November, 1968 pursuant to legal and regiiire( notice stating; the time and place of said mooting together with the items to be discussed and acted upon at said meeting, A Special meet: of the Town Co.:ncil war, held at the hour of 9: 30 a.m. , in the Town Councilroom. Present were Mayor Rumaldo Garcia Councilmembers Mrs. Ashley Po: and Mr. Martin Vargas. The meetinL• was c=elled for the purpose of mooting with gentleme- from U.S.D.A. Soil Conservation Service. Mr. Larking Salazar, Mr. Harold Honeyfield Civil Engineer, Mr. Philip Jones from Espanola, N., Mayor Garcia--Called On Mr. Salazar Mr. Salazar--Informed Mayor than past administration had signed an agreement, whereby Town of Taos woiilcl maintain and upkeep the Arr Las Cruces Dam. It was now time for annual inspection. Operation o. the gate had been assigned to Water manager Mr. Luis Trujillo. Mr. Romero present water department supertienant was now logical person t oversee, with the help of street department. If this is not done project could become non-functional (2) structure has a gate it must be in operation at all times , water must be free to flow through, Operation maintance are imperative in order to maintain the structur functional. Mayor Garcia--Requested that Mr. LeRoy Romero Water Department Supertinant and Mr. Solomon Dominguez be present at meeting and accompany party to Dam site. Mayor requested that Council should review agreement , Council agreed to Mayor's suggestion. Mr. Salazar--Asked Mayer to inform Town people by News media about prohibiting anyone or anything from abstructing the view. Als it would be to tl•e advantage if Town Council could inform and work with County Commissioners. Mayor Garcia--Would get in touch with County Commissioners also ask Fire Department to lend five or six men to be-come acquainted wi upkeep at Dam Site. Mr. LeRoy Romero--Asked if a chain and padlock could be put on water gate because of vandelism. The way it now stands anyone could tamper with the parts. Mayor Garcia--Adviced Mr. Romero to purchase three keys with the lock one for Mr. Larkin, one for Mr. Romero and one key to be ke in office. Mayor and Council along with gentlemen from R.C. & D went to dam site. There being no further business Councilmember Mr. Martin Vargas moved to adjourn. Duly 2nd by Councilmember Mrs. Pond.
