ORDINANCE NO. 604
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE TOWN
O F T A OS T h at the 1970 Edition of the New M e xico Uniform Traffic I
Ordinance be and the same is hereby adopted, excepting there-
from Articles IX and XI of same . It is further ordained that
a copy of said Ordinance shall be at all times kept in the
Office of the Clerk of the Town of Taos and the same will be
available for review and inspection by anyone during regular
hours of said Office.
PASSED AND ADOPTED on this the 23rd day of July, 1970.

MINUTES OF THE TOWN OF TAOS SPECIAL
COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON JULY 3, 70
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Garcia. The
following persons were present:
Mayor, Rumaldo Garcia
Trustees , Lou Pond
Tessie Lester
Ernest 0. Santistevan
Town Clerk, Dolores R. Haas
Town Attorney, E1 i u E. Romero
Absent: Trustee, Martin Vargas
Also present at this meeting were Police Magistrate
Joe C. Montoya, Officer Jose Montoya, and Police Trainee Tony
Lucero.
TOWN MANAGER: The Council reviewed six applications which
were received for the position of Town Manager. No decision was
made at this time, since one applicant had not yet been inter-
viewed.
EMPLOYEES GROUP INSURANCE; Ten group insurance proposals
which were received from various companies were presented by
the Clerk. Action was postponed due to the lack of time to
study each one individually at this time.
ORDINANCE NO. 604: This ordinance was introduced and
read as follows:
ORDINANCE NO. 604
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE TOWN
OF TAOS that the 1970 Edition of the New Mexico Uniform Traffic
Ordinance be and the same is hereby adopted, excepting there-
from Articles IX and SI of same. It is further ordained that

Ordinance No. 604 be adopted and published according to law.

Ordinance No. 605 was then introduced and read as follows:
ORDINANCE NO. 605
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE TOWN
OF TAOS THAT the following listed offenses are hereby made
crimes if committed within the Town of Taos as follows :
1 . ASSAULT. It is unlawful for any person to comrA t
a battery upon the person of another, nor shall any person by

any unlawful act, threat, or menacing conduct cause another person
to believe he is in danger of receiving an immediate battery, nor
shall any person, by the use of insulting language toward another,
impugn his honor, selicacy or reputation.
2. BATTERY. It is unlawful for any person to beat, strike,
wound, inflict violence or apply force to the person of another, nor
shall a person intentionally touch or apply force to the person of
another in a rude, insolent, angry or hostile manner except in
connection with an Exhibition duly authorized and licensed under
law, or in lawful self-defense, or in the line of duty as a duly
authorized police officer as circumstances warrant.
3. TRESPASS. It is unlawful , with malicious intent, to
enter or remain upon the property of another knowing that consent
to enter or remain has been denied or withdrawn by the owner or
occupant '."neraof.
4. PROWLING. It is unlawful to lurk, lie in wait or be
concealed upon the property of another without physical or lawful
business with the oarner or occupant thereof.
5. DJ_",'URBING THE PEACE. It is unlawful for any person to
disturb or aid in disturbing the peace of others by violent,
tumultuous , offensive, or other obstreperous conduct, and no
person shall knowingly permit such conduct upon any property owned
by him or under his control or supervision.
