AN ORDINANCE SETTING THE SPEED LIMIT ON PLACITAS
ROAD AND PRESCRIBING A PENALTY FOR ITS VIOLATION
BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Council of the Town of
Taos that,
WHEREAS , Placitas Road within the Town of Taos is so situ-
ated as to create a traffic hazard to the public should the speeds
at which persons are allowed to travel along said Road not be re-
stricted , and
WHEREAS, there are normally a large number of school chil-
dren on said Road during the school year for whom high speeds on
this street would pose a hazard ,
IT IS THEREFORE ORDAINED that the speed limit on Placitas
Road from the intersection of said Road with United States Highway
64 to Valverde Road shall be and it is hereby set at Fifteen (15)
miles per hour, and the speed limit on said Placitas Road from the
intersection of said Road with Valverde Road to the end of Placitas
Road where it connects with New Mexico Highway 3 shall be and it
is hereby set at Twenty-Five (25) miles per hour.
The violation of this Ordinance shall be deemed to be a
misdemeanor and upon conviction of its violation punishable as
such.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at Taos , New Mexico, on this, the 12th
day of October 1971.
