j AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF
PERSONS TO SERVE ON A SPECIAL EXTRATERRITORIAL
i ZONING COMMISSION, PROVIDING FOR MEETINGS AND
I DEFINING THEIR DUTIES.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE Council of the Town of Taos , New
Mexico as follows : 1
Section 1 . That for the purpose of promoting the health,
safety morals and general welfare of persons residing within all

of the territory enclosed within three (3) miles of the limits
of the Town of Taos, New Mexico, it is hereby declared necessary i
to create a Special Extraterritorial Zoning Commission in accord-
ance with the enabling authority in Section 14-20-2 . 1 NMSA 1953
Comp. , as amended.
Section 2 . The Mayor of the Town of Taos , New Mexico, with
the advice, consent and approval of the Council shall appoint
three responsible residents of the Town to the Extraterritorial
Zoning Commission, which Commission shall consist of six members
of which three (3) are to be appointed by the vote of the County
Commissioners of Taos County, New Mexico.
Section 3 . The first three members to be appointed hereunder
shall be for the specified terms of two, three ?rd f.r ur years
respectively and thereafter upon expiration of each member' s term,
a successor shall be appointed for a four year term
Section 4. The County ' s three members of Li.e Special
Extraterritorial Zoning Commission shall, as provided !--)y law, act
jointly with the three lr.ember_, t, '.)e appointed by the Town of Taos.
Said Commission shall receive and review and consider any extra-
territorial zoning proposal or ordinance from. the Town of Taos
and shall approve, disapprove or make recoi:.mendations for
amendments to any such pl-oposed ordinance.
Section 5 . The Special Extraterritorial Zoning Commission
shall meet and consider any prop(,s d extraterritorial zoning

ordinance presented to it by the Town of Taos, New Mexico and
shall take action thereon within ten (10) days after receipt of
the same from the Town and shall report its action thereon in
f� writing to both the Town Council of the Town of Taos and the

Board of County Commissioners of Taos County.
Section 6 . The Commission may appoint, from among its
members, a secretary who shall keep minutes of all meetings of
said commission and prepare and furnish written reports of the

action taken by said commission on any proposed extraterritorial
zoning ordinance, to the Town Council and to the Board of
County Commissioners of Taos County.
1 Section 7 . That all ordinances or parts or ordinances
` in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
