AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE OFFICE OF TOWN ADMINIS-
TRATOR SETTING FORTH METHODS OF APPOINTMENT,
I QUALIFICATIONS, DUTIES AND FACTORS RELATIVE TO THE
` OFFICE
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF TAOS, NEW MEXICO, that
Ordinanoe No. 638, be amended to read the following paragraph:
SECTION 16. ENGAGING IN POLITICAL ACTIVITY:
The Town Administrator shall not either directly or indirectly en-
gage in any political activity, partisan or non-partisan, in any manner,
while in office.

The town administrator may remove or suspend any employee when S
such action would be in the best interests of the town.
All recommendations for appointment, removal or suspension shall
be based solely on the merit, qualifications or disqualification of
any employee concerned, without regard to sex, race, color or creed.
Section 16. En,aging in Political Activity. The town administrator
shall not either directly or indirectly engage In partisan political
activity, in any manner,- while in office.
Section 17. Financial Interest in Contracts, etc. The toinl
administrator shall have no financial interest in any contract or

financial transaction with the town.

NOTICE OF MEETING AND PROPOSED ORDINANCE
The Taos Town Council of the Town of Taos (herein the "Town"), New Mexico,
hereby gives notice of its intention to hold a public meeting at 7:30 o'clock
P.M. , on Wednesday, September 17, 1980, at the Taos Council Chambers, Armory
Street, Taos, New Mexico. At such meeting the Council will adopt an Ordinance
creating the office of Town administrator setting forth methods of appointment,
qualifications, duties and factors relative to the office. The title and sub-
ject matter of such proposed Ordinance is as follows:

THE TOWN CLERK, MUNICIPAL OFFICES (ON ARMORY STREET) IN THOS, NEW MEXICO AND
ARE AVAILABLE DURING THE NORMAL AND REGULAR BUSINESS HOURS OF THE TOWN CLERK
UPON REQUEST AND PAYMENT OF A REASONABLE CHARGE.
